Stayed here prior to cruise. Great hotel, near port of Tampa and channelside district, several good restaurants in walking distance, and a very good restaurant/bar on site. Good food, with reasonable price. Nice pool and workout area. Wonderful beds.

Booked room several months in advance directly through Hyatt not outside travel company and paid for room in advance. Booked room with 2 beds as there were 4 people in room. Arrived at 5pm to check in and they were sold out of double bed rooms. They put us in a single king bed room with a roll-away bed, not what we wanted/reserved. They did not offer to compensate us in any way for this. Valet parking was full so had to park in a city garage a block away, long walk to hotel with luggage. The floor we were on smelled like a dirty baby diaper. The toilet in the bathroom was a very loud turbo flush model that made a lot of noise but did not work well, can't explain, have to experience in person. You could hear surrounding rooms every time they flushed their toilet, very annoying. Breakfast buffet was very overpriced, hot items were cold and very limited in selection. Many homeless people outside hotel that you had to walk through to get to nearby restaurants/shopping and they were very pushy about asking for $ or trying to sell fowers that looked like they were pulled out of a flower garden outside the hotel. As a traveler who travels often for business/pleasure this is the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Will not be staying at this hotel again. Last year I stayed at a Hyatt Place hotel in Atlanta that was one of the best hotel experiences I have had, this hotel needs to check out their Atlanta location and improve all around.

MY WIFE AND I JUST STAYED THERE WEEKEND OF 8/22/08 SO THIS IS VERY CURRENT. HOTEL WAS UNIMPRESSIVE. ONLY ONE RESTARAUNT WHICH WAS VERY POOR. COLD FOOD (HOT ENTREE) FORGETFUL SERVICE, WRONG BILL AND WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THOSE LEMONS WE ASKED FOR? THE ROOM HAD A PROBLEM WHERE HALF OF THE WATER FLOW CAME OUT OF THE TUB FAUCET AND THE OTHER HALF CAME OUT OF THE SHOWER FAUCET AND WE HAD TWO DIFFERENT KINDS OF BUGS IN THE BED. IT'S NOT THE HOTEL'S FAULT THAT DOWNTOWN TAMPA IS DEAD, I MEAN NO ONE BUT SOME STREET PEOPLE. I THINK THE CITY PLANNERS FORGOT TO BUILD FOR PEOPLE AND NOT JUST LARGE BANKS. IT COULD BE A NICE CITY. OH, TRY STAYING ALONG THE RIVER WALK...MUCH NICER.

We enjoyed everything but the waiting time for elevators. Staying on the 8th floor it was better to walk down the stairs and wait for the elevators on the way back up. Sometimes the wait was up to 7 minutes and they stopped on every floor. Other than that, it is a first class property in the heart of the beautiful downtown area. Nice restaurant and clean throughout, but they really need to pay attention to the elevators and the time it takes to access them.
